Last weekend I went to NYC for the weekend to do some exploring. I haven’t been to NYC since I was a kid, so going back was quite a trip! I landed at the JFK airport around 4:30 on Friday and immediately took a cab to the Belvedere Hotel to check-in. I was exhausted from a long day of work (yes, I still worked on Friday) and needed to lay down for a quick nap. My intention was to actually nap on the flight, but I’ve never been a good upright sleeper so naturally, I got no rest on the way to NYC. Oh well.
When I got up around 7:45 I was starving. Good thing I booked the hotel practically in Hell’s Kitchen! I did a quick Google search on my phone
to find an interesting place to eat – I always look for unique places to eat when I travel – and I stumbled upon Lillie’s Victorian Establishment. I’d never heard of a victorian establishment before, so I figured I’d go check it out. The food was incredible!
I had a wonderful ribeye steak, cooked to perfection. To go along with it, I treated myself to a nice cocktail. I can’t remember what it was called… I was relying heavily on the waitress to pick it out for me! After a good meal, I was ready to hit the sack.
The next day I went and visited my sister who lives uptown. I haven’t seen her in a long time, so it was good to catch up on what was new with her. She’s always been a big inspiration in my life – I wish I got to spend more time with her! She works down in the financial district, so she took me down there to do a little exploring. We went by the Freedom Tower, New York Stock Exchange, and hung out in Battery Park for a little while since it was such a nice day.
It was a good visit with my sister, but unfortunately, I had to catch a flight out of NYC to attend to some business I had going on Sunday afternoon. But I will certainly be back!
